Ultrasonic diffusers

Ultrasonic diffusers are one of the most common diffusers. All they need is water and a few drops of essential oil and you're done. No filters are needs.

Inside each ultrasonic diffuser is a tiny ceramic disc vibrating that creates a cool, odorless water vapor. To freshen the air around you, the device creates negative ions which bind to dust particles that drop to the group leaving the air fresher.

There is little energy used and they are quiet. They also run for hours and there is no fire or heat involved.

Note: This diffuser can change the chemistry of the oil you put into it and health benefits may be affected depending upon the oil you use. Be aware of the oils that can burn fabric.

Heat Diffuser

A heat essential oil diffuser uses heat to disperse essential oil in the room. The heat comes from either an electric power source or a flame such as a candle. It then converts water & the essential oil into gas that disperses into the atmosphere.

They are efficient and run quietly. However, be warned that this diffuser can change the chemistry of the oil you put into it and health benefits may be affected.

Nebulizing Diffuser

Known for delivering the purest form of essential oils when used in conjunction with aromatherapy. Most have glass tanks/reservoirs and do not require you to mix your oils with water. This technique does break down the oils into atoms, which allows for better dispersion on the body or into the atmosphere. Great for delivering medicinal benefits to clear airways or even treat infections. Can be used in emergency situations to open breathing pathways.

Evaporative Diffusers

Evaporative Diffusers is the most basic type of diffuser. A fan blows air through a filter that has essential oils placed onto it. Air blowing through the filter causes the oils to evaporate. This evaporation is first absorbed by a material (called a pad or wick) where after airflow from the fan dispels the oil’s scent and other components into the air. The most common type of Evaporative Diffuser is a Reed Diffuser.
